Hello Rivertonians!
We're only a few days since the last major update, but I couldn't hang on to this exciting news! Breeding has had a complete overhaul. Thank you for your patience as I finally figured out the direction to go with it. Combining a "nerdier" scoring system of genetics with descriptions of personality traits seems to be the best avenue to go here, so I hope y'all enjoy breeding your horses in particular! Let me know what you think on the Forum.
Additions
- Pedigrees, personality traits, and genetic predispositions to skills and personality traits are now implemented for all horses. Livestock and other animals have personality traits and genetic predisposition toward personality traits but no pedigrees. Training certain skills affects your adoptable's personality, so you might want to keep track of how your horse is progressing in their personality before you breed them! You can view your pet's personality, pedigree, and/or skills by visiting their Profile. Please report any bugs you find.
- Note: Competitions, particularly in Dressage and Showing, will be adjusted a bit to accommodate personality traits in addition to skill checks. This will be announced in a future update when it changes, but competitions currently do not do personality checks for now.
- The Tack Shop has new additions: Backdrops! And new colors of already-released items! Backdrops are backgrounds for your horses (at the moment but will be expanded later!) that will be viewed on your adoptable wherever you see them, including in your embed codes. (Thank you to Cosy and Ken for their art being used just for us!)
- The new Museum of Items is open to the public, a new way for you to discover new items around Riverton--an item directory that you can search! Find it in the Library.
- The Egg Nest Cafe is also open to the public! Stop in for breakfast or lunch and meet Steven, who will serve up some delicious breakfast for you.
Adjustments
- Breeding has decreased in price to $5,000 per successful breeding session, no matter how many pets are made. You will no longer be charged for unsuccessful breeding sessions, so this should feel a bit more balanced.
- Grass seeds have been added back into the game, and they can successfully be grown in your Farm! Processing them into hay will be coming in a later update.
- Inventory items should now group together instead of being on separate rows with different quantities.
Upcoming
- Small pets
- Beginner's guide
- New livestock and harvested items (waiting on art!)
- New Collection
- Career system
- Weather system
- Referrals and reward system
Thank you so much for playing! I hope you're having a good time! Keep an eye on the Roadmap for live updates while I'm working.
