Hello, Rivertonians!
I hope your spring is off to an awesome start. I've got a few feature implementations this update, which seems to be my cadence these days. These have been features I've been working on since the holidays, and I'm glad they're finally ready for all of you! Please report any bugs as usual to the Bug Reports forum thread.
Additions
- Household Pets are now available to be purchased in the Pet Shop! Houses over Level 2 are now able to build Enclosures, which house your smaller pets.
- Wild horse taming is here! Search the Wild Horse Fields once every day for the chance to find a horse with random skills and personality traits.
- Tip: You can only tame horses if you have under 30 adoptables in total, but this limit will be raised soon when player skills are released!
- The Bingo Hall is open for daily games! Every day at 10 a.m. and 7 p.m., a live game of Bingo will begin that you can play alone or with other Riverton residents. A live chat opens for every game so that all players can talk to one another during active games.
- Tip: Anyone causing trouble in the chat? Click Report above a user's name in chat to report a user's behavior. If someone is reported by enough players, they will automatically be muted for the remainder of the game while Staff review moderation reports.
- Gallop & Grain now features a typing race game, where you can perform Open Mic by testing your speed of classic poetry and prose!
- The Breed Encyclopedia is now available, showing all current and available adoptables in Riverton. It's always accessible from the Help Center.
- And speaking of the Help Center, there's more information about Careers, including how streaks affect lengths of level progression.
- A couple of new Community Polls are up for voting!
Adjustments
- The Horse Rescue now limits adoptions to once per hour and $1,000 per adoption to prevent overpopulation.
- Maximum number of adoptables in total has been reduced to 100.
- The Town Square no longer automatically refreshes when you receive a promo code as a result of a successful streak.
- Livestock Pens should now reflect the actual colors of your adoptables.
- Career streaks are no longer broken and should reflect further streaks.
- Livestock Managers should no longer have issues with generating tasks for their daily career.
Upcoming
- Weather system
- Referrals and reward system
- Retirement system for horses
- Seasonal events
I've been working a lot on the "life sim" aspect of Riverton lately, and this has left me thinking the competitions system needs some improvement. Since I'm already working in how personalities will factor into competitions, I'm considering making competitions more robust with tiers, circuits, and conditions. Let me know what you think in the Voting Booth!
Thanks so much for playing! I really appreciate all of you spending time here, and it helps keep me motivated. Check the Roadmap for real-time updates, and don't forget to vote at the Voting Booth for the direction of Riverton!
